Quick Summer Shaker Card

Hello everyone!

Eny here, and today I wanted to share with you a quick way to make shaker cards. I love creating shaker projects, but they tend to be laborious and use up A LOT of material. A few years back I watched a video from a YouTuber called Nurse Tara, where she created several of these in a matter of minutes. I was immediately hooked, and ever since, I use this more often than not, as my go-to way of making shaker elements.

Firt, we decide what image we want to use. Today i will be coloring up OddBall Art IMG#155

Digital Stamp Big Eye Fairy Girl & Friend Sally & Charlie

I used ArtNFly Alcohol Sketch Markers. I have been using these for about 2 months now, and I am in love! They are refillable, affordable and so fun to use.

To add detail, i created a pool border, with a very cool gray, and then used a darker shade to create the the "Stone" accents.

Make sure to blend your colors good, to create a shading effect.

I colored the pool a bright turquoise, with intense green accents, to really help the images "pop out" of the page.

Using the "blender" marker, i lay down a series of dots over the "water". This create a really effect, making it look like bubbles are filling the pool.

Now starts the really easy part of this whole project. Using a self sealing, the ones they sell at jewelry or baking stores (also available at many craft chain stores), I will be making my shaker element. I trim down my full card cover so it will fit inside the bag.

I place the paper inside the bag, making sure the image is facing the opposite direction of where the adhesive is on the bag. Fill the bag with your favorite shaker mix. Not too much though, we want the pieces to be able to move freely within the bag.

Remove the backing to expose the adhesive, and seal tight.

Your shaker cover is ready! You can now add to a card base, and add extra details like trim or a sentiment.

You can see a mini video of the shaker in action, by visiting my Instagram.

I hope you enjoyed today's quick pictorial, and that you try it out!

Rollin' With My Gnomies

Hello! Today I have a project using Cute Gnomes Rollin With My Gnomies Image No 461.

I created a slimcard using this adorable stamp set and coloured the images with alcohol makers. I used dies to create the grass and sky, and coloured them with Distress Oxides.

Road trip

Flower power hippy van
Hi there! Did you catch my last post about Spring?  What says the snow is gone and Spring is here, more then a road trip!   I have this secret desire to own a Volkswagen Van, and to drive off into the sunset.....well the van part it true!  This picture is the companion to The Spring picture in my altered journal it’s a digital image from Oddballartstamps (Flower power Hippy van). The background is acrylic painted scrapped randomly across a gessoed page.  I used washie tape to create a funky road and stamped on stars and a US map (stampers anonymous).  The gray exhaust flowers are acrylic paint through a stencil (brand unknown).  Sentiment was from a Recollection paper pad.
If a road trip isn’t in the cards right now you could use my code CHR1 for a free image Oddballartstamps when you buy two.

Signs of Spring

Skyler and friends, Signs of spring
Hello Oddball friends!  I am so ready for warm weather....not rain, wind or snow, just sunshine!  But since it’s currently raining here I got out my altered journal and had some fun playing with mixed media.  At Oddballartstamps you can find images for any season of the year, I chose Skyler and friends for this project.    To create this entry in my journal I first gessoed the page, then I squirted a drop of acrylic paint (Plaid)  and used a credit card to scrape the paint across the page to make stripes.  I used a background stamp of French writing (stampers anonymous) and flower stencils (distress ink) over the strips.  The purple flower and leaves are modeling paste (Masters Touch) through a stencil.  The digital images were colored with Blackwidow pencils and the sky/ grass background is chalk pastel (Masters Touch) and pencil.  Do you use an art journal or altered journal?  I use mine for experiments and playing around with products I normally don’t work with.  Hope you enjoyed this glimpse into my altered journal.

Our Selection

Hello!

Another week I bring you a simple tutorial to perform with the Oddball Stamps freebie of the week
It's the CCC 106 Batty For Icecream and it's those pretty bat-winged stick ice creams in the center of the card.

I have accompanied it with images #144 Whimsical KawaiiIcecream Cone and #468 Spooky Sweets Cotton Candy, Cupcake, Icecream, and the freebie CCC #56 Skull Cone & Heart (which you can only access if you are Premium subscribers), to make this poster with “Our selection” of ice cream from Oddball stamps.

As always, it is very easy to do.

To start I printed the stamps along with a series of small signs with the “names of the specialties”. I colored with my alcohol markers and cut.

For the background, I cut an A5 size card stock and inked it with yellow Aurore ink from the I-Zink brand and an orange one from an old Lidl set.
With a black gel pen I drew a fake sewn along the edge.

I placed all my elements making the distribution as balanced as I could, trying to evoke the ice cream poster of the stores in summer, and once this was done, I inked the names so that they were integrated into the background.

I glued the names and cookies directly on the background, and the rest of the elements with double-sided foam tape.

And this is the result.
As you can see much easier it cannot be done.

I remind you that you have at your disposal the discount code DTIRENE10 to buy your stamps in the Oddball Stamps store and that if you use the #creepycutechronicles hashtag to share your creations, we will be able to see them.

I hope you liked it and inspire you.
Thanks for stopping by here one more day.

See you!

Crime and Crafts Episode 1, feat. OddBall Art

Hello everyone and welcome to the first episode of Crime and Crafts, the show that will dive in to True Crime stories. During this series,  I will be creating scenes inspired by the stories I will be sharing with you.

Though these are grisly,  sinister in nature, I won't be creating gruesome crafts. I will only be using portions of the story; place, time, "characters " to bring the story to life.

I want to be respectful towards the victims and their families. So don't be expecting an "R" feature presentation. Let's remember that these were once living souls, who were snuffed from their families and loved ones.
I ask that no matter what you think,  you remain respectful in your comments, as we discuss these unforeseen events.

Today's case takes us back to 1980s New Orleans, where an unsuspecting heiress will meet her fate. Let's walk the paths through this Pet Cemetery, and uncover all the details to this sad tale.

Dorothy Thompson was a wealthy heiress and owner of a Pet Cemetery. A prominent figure in New Orleans, everyone in town knew who she was. One day, a Brandon Nodier began working as a live-in caretaker for the grounds. But, one day, he made a series of choices that will not only see him committing a murder,  but evading the law for 30 years.

For all the details on this case, please visit my YouTube Channel, where I have also created a full tutorial for the scene I am sharing with you today.

Many articles and updates can be found online, but my favored resource was this website.

I used OddBall Art IMG#363 Hudson , #349 Grave and Boneyard Scene , #124 Cemetery Girl Myra Manes and #533 Zombie Hearts and Hands. All colored using ArtNFly Sketch Markers.

I hope you enjoyed this first installment, and the manner in which I have chosen to present these cases to you. As I evolve and perfect my method, I hope to dive deeper in to the cases and bring to light all details that were important during the times they happened.

If you have any suggestions for future installments, please let me know in the comments below.

Stay safe and keep crafting,
Eny Dunn

Spring Time Ghouls

Hello!

Today I bring you a large and landscape card that I have made with the freebie this Friday for the Oddball Art Stamps DT

To do this I started by coloring all the digis in my scene with my Finecolour alcohol markers and cut them out.

I continued to make the background with a stencil and I-Zink's Ocean ink on a white card stock.

On a piece of cardboard I die cutting a profile of grass and inked it with Distress Ink color Twisted Citron.

Then I started to glue my pieces together. I started with the grass profile and continued with the mushrooms.
I glued the fairy boy, the snail and the ghost with double-sided tape with foam.
Finally I added the flowers and the title that I wrote in a Word and printed on cardboard.

This is my result and I hope you like it and inspire you.

Remember that you have the hashtag #creepycutechronicles to share your work and the discount code DTIRENE10 for your purchases in Oddball.

See you!
