March Challenge Art Journal Layout

IMG_4974

Hey Oddballs, it's EK from ekgorman designs and I am popping into to remind you to play along with this month's Challenge.

Everyone Month, Oddball Art puts out a challenge, that has a loose theme of "Life Size Leprechauns & Unlucky Clovers".  But in reality, this month long challenge is an Anything Goes, with any stamp and any theme.

This month, Oddball is stepping up things, and letting you get two chances to win...bring a friend to the challenge and if one of you is randomly picked, both of you win.

EK Gorman, Oddball March Challenge a

I created an Art Journal layout for this month's challenge reminder (see it is truly an anything goes challenge) with a non-saint Patrick's Day themed digital stamp from Oddball.  I pulled out the digi IMG129 Hadley and the Hairdresser and colored her up with my copics, and then added her to a more traditional art journal page.

If you want to watch not only how I colored up the image, but see how I created the background in the art journal, pop over and watch this video now.

Thanks for popping in today, and make sure you participate.  If you need to, say I referred you to the monthly challenge.

Courage Being Yourself Art Journal Page

Hey there Oddballs!  EK here today to share with you an Art Journal Page I made using IMG235- Whimsical Frilly Skull with Bow.

Using a collection of mousse, distress paints and stamping, I was able to create this page.

The digi was colored simply with some Spectrum Noir markers, and adhered to the journal page.

The sentiment came from a Tim Holtz stamp, and seems like a perfect sentiment for the page.  After all, it can't be easy being a girly, pretty skull girl in a work full of scary skulls.

What Seems Ordinary Art Journal Page

Hi Oddballs.  EK here from ekgorman designs sneaking in today to share a pictorial tutorial of an Art Journal Page I made using the super cute IMG313 Suns with and without faces.

I started by printing out the five suns without faces onto some cardstock and pulled my 5x7 Dylusions Art Journal out.

Then I added a quick touch of blended Dylusions paint over the suns.  I used Squeezed Orange, Postbox Red, and Bubblegum Pink.

I fussy cut out the suns.

I then blended the same three colors onto the pages of my journal.

Using a make shift stencil, I added some orange paint through it.  I am pretty sure there was some old ink on the stencil, so the color came through not quite as pure, but I ended up liking the look.

I did the same with the red paint and a star stencil.

The same happened with the pink and a square stencil.

Using my finger, I smudged some heavy body burnt umber paint onto the bottom of the page.

Using some Matte Medium, I added the suns onto the journal pages.  I then added another layer of matte medium over the entire journal pages and let it dry.

Using a Permanent Green Olive Pitt Big Brush Pen, I drew in flower stems and leaves.

I added detail to the red flowers with the Deep Scarlet Red Pitt Big Brush Pen.

The pink flowers got some detail work with the Magenta Pitt Big Brush Pen.

The orange flower got a touch of Scarlet Red Pitt Big Brush Pen.

Using my white gel pen, I added some detail work to the stems, flowers, and base of the art journal page.

I then outlined the flowers with a dash and dot pattern with the gel pen.

Using another stencil, I traced the square pattern around the edges of the journal page with my black .5 pen on first one page...

...then the other.

I mixed up some fluid white acrylic paint with some water...

...and splattered white paint all over the journal pages.

Finally, I added a sentiment from a Tim Holtz sentiment sticker pack.
