March Challenge Art Journal Layout

IMG_4974

Hey Oddballs, it's EK from ekgorman designs and I am popping into to remind you to play along with this month's Challenge.

Everyone Month, Oddball Art puts out a challenge, that has a loose theme of "Life Size Leprechauns & Unlucky Clovers".  But in reality, this month long challenge is an Anything Goes, with any stamp and any theme.

This month, Oddball is stepping up things, and letting you get two chances to win...bring a friend to the challenge and if one of you is randomly picked, both of you win.

EK Gorman, Oddball March Challenge a

I created an Art Journal layout for this month's challenge reminder (see it is truly an anything goes challenge) with a non-saint Patrick's Day themed digital stamp from Oddball.  I pulled out the digi IMG129 Hadley and the Hairdresser and colored her up with my copics, and then added her to a more traditional art journal page.

If you want to watch not only how I colored up the image, but see how I created the background in the art journal, pop over and watch this video now.

EK Gorman, Oddball March Challenge c

Thanks for popping in today, and make sure you participate.  If you need to, say I referred you to the monthly challenge.

Zombies Need Love Too

EK Gorman, Oddball Art 2:12 zombies need love too g
Hey Oddball fans...It's EK from ekgorman designs and I am sneaking in today to share some valentines cards I whipped up for a couple of zombies in my life...because let's be honest, zombies need love too.

I started by printing out the two digital stamps, IMG 280 Valentines Day Love Sick Heidi and IMG367 Valentine Undead Leni.

  IMG_4739
I pulled out my copics and colored in both of their undead flesh.  Leni got a pasty colored flesh using E40, E41, E43, and E44.  Heidi was colored with E40, E41, YG91, YG93, and YG95.

  IMG_4740
Wanting the zombie to be the star of the show, I pulled out my W5, W6, and W9 to color in accessories around the zombies.

  IMG_4741
Eyes and lips were hit with a little W1, W3, and W5.

  IMG_4751
Finally, Leni's hair was colored with G24, G94 and G99 while Heidi's hair was colored a little more traditionally with some E44, E47, E29 and E49.  I also surrouned the zombie ladies with some R20, R22, and R24.

EK Gorman, Oddball Art 2:12 zombies need love too c
Love Sick Heidi got trimmed up a little a matted with some red cardstock.  I also pulled out some black glitter paper, so Heidi could feel special on this the day of love, and adhered it to some more red cardstock.

EK Gorman, Oddball Art 2:12 zombies need love too b
I added a few red adhesive dots some Heidi knows that she isn't left out this year for Valentine's Day.

Undead Leni got trimmed up and matted with some black cardstock.  She got some pink glitter paper that was also matted with black cardstock.

Leni was given a bit more glam with some black rhinestones, a black flower and some mini rhinestones.

As Valentine's Day approaches don't forget to give a little love to the undead in your life.  They need love too.

My project today features this January's premium digital stamp, which really is a twofer, since these adorable digis can be separated or used together.

I created a video sharing how I colored up this stamps and assembled the card.  To watch the video in HD, click here.

The really funny thing about this card for me, is when I finished it (literally weeks ago), I did not like it.  But now...it has strangely grown on me.  There is just something about the whole thing that works...maybe it is just the sticker sentiment that does it for me, since I too am frequently irreverent.

Make sure to pop over to the Oddball Store today and check out all the benefits of becoming a subscriber.  Need a new digital stamp like right now...well feel free to use my code DTEK10 to get 10% off your next purchase!

Not Only Does My Mind Wonder...

Hey Oddballs!  It's EK from ekgorman designs popping in today to remind you that there is still plenty of time to play with this month's Delightfully Dark and Dismal challenge!  Make sure you pop over to join in on all the fun!

EK Gorman, Oddball Art a
Today I am using the digital IMG129 Hadley and the Hairdresser to get a little goofy despite the dark and dismal situation.

Using my copics, I colored up the image and then distressed the boarders using some distress oxides in both hickory smoke and black soot.

I then added some die cut pieces to card and some printed cardstock under the whole thing.  I wanted the card to feel fun, all the while a little grimy and dark.  I think I may have found the perfect balance between the two.

EK Gorman, Oddball Art a

Today I am wetting your whistles with this fun witch digi, IMG81 Witch Sassy & Sissy Cat.  I played around with this image last summer on black cardstock and some colored pencils, but have always wanted to color it with my copics.  Today, I felt was the day.

If you missed my previous project, you can sneak back and see it here which includes a video on how I colored the project.

EK Gorman, Oddball Art b

But today we are playing with copics, and I just loved coloring Sassy up.  Additionally, I added a simply Halloween greeting, some halloween themed papers and of course a few appropriately colored Sparkle Blend sequins.

There Were Too Many Other Options

Hey Oddballs!!!  It's EK from ekgorman designs sneaking in today to ask:  Have you played along with the current August Lost Souls of Innocent Dolls?

Well, why not?  Did you know that there is a chance to win free digital stamps if you use an Oddball Digital stamps and play along with the theme?  And lets be honest...lost souls of innocent dolls...that theme works with 90% of all the Oddball Art!

Today I am playing along with the IMG48 Big Eyed Zombie Girl and trying to create a since of innocence with my CAS card.

For this project I pulled out my copic markers and colored up my little zombie girl.  To create a little bit of a sour skin tone I pulled out my E40, E41 and E42 to give her a little bit of that sickly tone.

Also I die cut out a panel in the card and added something that didn't make any since, an off white pineapple paper.  Yes you are right, the panel is illogical, but I love the idea that this little lady is looking out to something beautiful, yet surreal, without creating a real window.

I finally added a Tim Holtz snarky sentiment sticker, because frankly, this is the speech my little angels give me each and every day when they get into a bit of trouble.

I am really looking forward to seeing what you do for the challenge.  If you need a new digital stamp feel free to use the code DTEK10 to get 10% off your Oddball purchase!!!

July Challenge Reminder

Hey Oddballs!  It's EK, from ekgorman designs here and I'm wondering something.

Have you played along yet with the current July Challenge happening here at Oddball Art?  If not what are you waiting for?  There are potentially free digital stamps available just for participating.

The theme for the challenge is always an Anything Goes Challenge, but with the optional theme this month of Dots and Doodles.  Want a chance to win even more digital stamps, then play along with the theme and use an Oddball Art Digital stamp.

I am playing with a new digital stamp added to the shop at the top of the month just for this theme.  The digi IMG#448 Pineapple Doodles Spooky Sweet appears to be a sweet pineapple stamp at first glance, but if you look just a little closer, you will see the amazing oddball twist thrown in.

I printed the digital stamp just as it comes when you down load it, to show how cute this image would be as a one layered card.  I colored all the pineapples up with my copics, trying to add some shadows into add a little dimension despite the card being one layered.

To add some more visual interest to the card, I added a burst of color around the edges using Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide and then a little splash of Worn Lipstick.

Thanks so much for peaking in at my challenge card.  Don't forget to add your card up by the end of the month for your chance to be picked as one of the random winners.

Need a new digital stamp to play with, then please feel free to use the code DTEK10 to get 10% off your next purchase!

Hi Oddballs!  It's EK here today to share a little bit of my current Oddball project.

Today I am playing around in my art journal along with the digital stamp IMG9 Wanda.

I went with a black and white theme when coloring the digital image in with my copic markers.  Then I fussy cut out the image so I could add it to my art journal.

For more on how I created the art journal page, hope on over to my page ekgorman designs for more details.

Alice the Artist

Hey Oddballs!  It's EK here today sharing a little bit of coloring on some kraft paper.  Kraft paper is such a fun way to create a card that is a little different and yet shows color in such a gorgeous way.

For this project, I printed out IMG381 Alice the Artist onto some kraft paper.  Then using my copics, I colored in Alice. Finally, using my white colored pencils, I colored in the canvas and hand wrote in the sentiment.

For more on this project, check out the write up I created that inspired today's project over on my page!
