Card "Octopus" by Roberta Cercato

Hello friends!
Today I created this card with one of Oddball Art's digital stamps, specifically I used Whimsical Steampunk Octopus Freddie "Legs" Wise-Key Image no. 250

To make the card I first printed the digital on cardboard suitable for use with alcohol markers and colored it with Spectrum Noir Classique.

To create the background I had a lot of fun!
It has been a while since I bought some Finnabair products and this time I wanted to dare a little more .... I really like the result!

First I passed a coat of white chalk, glued the gears and I ran black chalk.
Once dry, with a brush I applied various colors of Finnabair wax, green, orange and blue; finally I attached a few pieces of gold leaf here and there.

And here is a detail of my project

Did you like my card?
See you soon with another project!

Card "Flowers shall grow" by Roberta Cercato

Good morning friends!
Today I keep you company with a project that is still very summer .....
As soon as I saw this Oddball Art digital stamp I liked it immediately and I thought about using it for a card.
The digital stamp is Creepy Cute Big Eye Hula Girl Spooky Sue; I printed it and colored it with my inseparable Spectrum Noir Classique.
For the background this time I wanted to dare a little more .... I had bought some Finnabair products and I wanted to experiment with them.
First of all I passed some black chalk on the background making some ripples.
Once dry, with a cloth I passed the waxes, orange, purple and green and I got this beautiful effect.

I really like it, I think I will continue to experiment with these products!

See you soon with another colorful project!

Card "So Fabulous" by Roberta Cercato

Hello everyone!
Here I am again with another colorful Oddball art project
To make this nice card I used the digital stamp Mermaid of the stars n. 443:
first I printed it on cardboard suitable for use with acool markers and then colored it with Spectrum Noir Classique.

The background is always the funniest part ....
I really like "messing" with colors and observing how they mix together, giving life to ever-changing shades!
In this case I used different shades of Distress Ink Spray, I waited for them to dry and then I put here and there some abstract stamps; finally with a stencil and white chalk I created some relief writings.
I really like the final effect .... isn't it "fabulous"?

See you soon with other colorful projects!
Roberta

Card "Lets Party!" by Roberta Cercato

Hello friends!
Here I am with another nice project for Oddball art.
To make it I used the Creepy Cute Chronicles digital stamp printed on cardboard suitable for use with alcohol markers and colored with Spectrum Noir Classique.

To make the background, I enjoyed spraying different splashes of color with the Distress Spray
Finally, after cutting out the colored digital stamp and the sentiment, I assembled my card.

You like it?
See you soon with another colorful project!

An Oddball Halloween

challenge banner
Hey Oddballs...its EK and I am popping in to remind you that there is still time to play with the current challenge over at Oddball Art.  Since it is October and the high holly days at Oddball (aka Halloween) it is the challenge is the perfect theme...Monsters on Parade.
EK Gorman, Oddball Art Challenge reminder a
Today I am using IMG 106 Halloween Candy Corn and IMG406 Halloween Ghouls to create my Halloween themed card.

EK Gorman, Oddball Art Challenge reminder c
I colored the images up with my copic makers and fussy cut them out.  Then using some halloween themed printed paper, I created a fun spooky themed background for my candy corn and ghosts to had out on.  I also love the piece of halloween themed ephemera that I found to add as a sentiment for this project.

I also added a few drops of glow in the dark Nuvo Drops, because who doesn't want their halloween cards to glow in the dark.

EK Gorman, Oddball Art Challenge reminder d
This isn't a great photo, but you can sort of see how the drops are glowing!

EK Gorman, Oddball Art Challenge reminder b
I really can't wait to see how you play with this month's theme.  Until then, Happy Crafting!

The Bag of Idiots

EK Gorman, Oddball Art CCC#52 a
Hey Oddballs, its EK and it is that time of week again when Oddball Art releases their weekly newsletter and thus a new FREE digital stamp.  This week's Creepy Cute Chronicles image is such a sweet cat girl, that I was just too excited to play with it.  I pared this week's CCC with the new digital stamp IMG524 Girl with a Camera, which of course is not a girl at all, but a classic Oddball Bat.

I pulled out my polychromos colored pencils to color up this week's image and thought I would share a quick pictorial tutorial of how I colored up this card today.

IMG_5763
I started by printing out the two separate images onto some printer friendly cardstock.

IMG_5764
When I color people, I always start with skin tone.  I start by laying down a layer of purple for shadows, and then a light brown, and build up to a dark peach and then a pale peach (and no I am not giving the exact colors I used, because each hand lays color differently and if you are trying to recreate this, you should pick the shades that speak to you).

IMG_5765
Usually, I color hair second so that the skin looks less harsh.  For the hair, I flick in color, starting with my darkest color and building up to the lightest.  Here I used a dark brown, a red brown, a light brown and a blondish brown.

IMG_5766
When I add color to a large scene, I try to add it to multiple place so that the whole project makes since.  I laid down a dark pink, a cinnamon color and a dark peach for these pink tones.

IMG_5767
The same way I used the pink tones in multiple place, I used a collection of grays they same way.

IMG_5768
I wanted the camera to feel like it belonged, but at the same time stand out, so I pulled out the black colored pencils and a silver and laid down the color.  It does not look special here, but when you move the card, it is reflective.

IMG_5769
I created the ground with the same three lightest shades of brown that I used in the hair, but used them differently.  Without using the darkest brown, you get the same feeling, but a whole new look.
I also pulled out my distress ink brushes and blended a little brown distress oxide into the background and then laid a bit of pinkish distress oxide over it.

IMG_5770
The whole card got a fun snarky sentiment sticker and then some nuvo drops.

Oh Christmas Tree

Happy Oddball Christmas!!!

EK Gorman, Oddball Art a
So one of the things I love most about designing with Oddball Art is I get to be just a little bit cooky and weird.  Based on the words I type, it is hard to tell that I am actually kind of weird.  I always have been!  So to get to design and create with art that is just as off beat as I actually am, feels like a privilege not a job.

Today, on actual Christmas Day, I feel honored to share my oddball christmas tree using digital stamp IMG487 Creepmas Tree.  I colored the image up with my copics and then added glossy accents to the tree.

EK Gorman, Oddball Art b

I then added layers and layers of paper to make the slightly creepy tree seem normal.  Because I live in a world where my slightly weird personally is in fact normal.

So, on this, Christmas Day...

Merry Christmas Weirdo!

Sassy Witch & Sissy Cat

Hey Oddballs!  It's EK from ekgorman designs and I am popping into ask you one question...

Are you ready for Halloween?

Needless to say the whole team over at Oddball Art is gearing up for the tricks and treats.  No seriously...you are going to want to stay tuned all week to catch sightings of the ghouls and ghosts, witches and warlocks, pumpkins and peculiars.  After all, Halloween is the best time of year over at Oddball!

EK Gorman, Oddball Art a

Today I am wetting your whistles with this fun witch digi, IMG81 Witch Sassy & Sissy Cat.  I played around with this image last summer on black cardstock and some colored pencils, but have always wanted to color it with my copics.  Today, I felt was the day.

If you missed my previous project, you can sneak back and see it here which includes a video on how I colored the project.

EK Gorman, Oddball Art b

But today we are playing with copics, and I just loved coloring Sassy up.  Additionally, I added a simply Halloween greeting, some halloween themed papers and of course a few appropriately colored Sparkle Blend sequins.

EK Gorman, Oddball Art c
